Dr Rachel ter Bekke, researcher Yesim Kaya and artist Claudia Volders have started a crowdfunding campaign to finance research via the HeArt Ma’at project. HeArt Ma’at offers personalized art therapy to patients who have had one or more ICD-shocks due to cardiac arrest.

The Dutch Diabetes Research Foundation has awarded a Junior Fellowship (€350k) to Dr Amée Buziau (Dept. of Internal Medicine).

Dr Miranda Schram has been appointed as professor 'Diabetes epidemiology, particularly focused on Cardiovascular and Mental Health'.

Quirien Robbe (Dept. of Neurology) received the 2023 Harry Crijns Research Grant for her project 'Prognostic value of concomitant, choroid artery occlusion in acute ischaemic, large vessel stroke', a pioneering scientific research into dementia after stroke within a collaboration between radiology and neurology. 

After tallying both the audience score and the jury's score, the innovative project 'PreCIS, addressing medication prescribing cascades' won the Marja van Dieijen Award 2023, worth 25,000 euros.

Prof. Hans-Peter Brunner-La Rocca (Dept. of Cardiology) leads an international research project, focused on personalised prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Dr Martina Calore (Department of Molecular Genetics) is one of the partners of the international consortium that was funded with 4 million euros by the European Innovation Council for cardiogenomics for the research project, named IMPACT - Cardiogenomics meets Artificial Intelligence: a step forward in arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy diagnosis and treatment. 

Dr Sam Heuts (Dept. of CTC) has received a Dekker grant awarded by the Dutch Heart Foundation.

De Harry Crijns Research Grant, in het leven geroepen door het Hart en vaat onderzoekfonds Limburg,  in te stelle wordt periodiek toegekend aan jonge wetenschappers die zich bezighouden met klinisch cardiovasculair onderzoek en daarmee bijdragen aan de realisering van de doelstellingen van de foundation.
