Job Stoks

Post doc

As a clinical technologist, Dr Job Stoks was trained in Technical Medicine at the University of Twente, which focuses on the implementation and application of novel technologies in clinical medicine. After obtaining his Master’s degree, he applied his hybrid background to investigate the mechanisms of ventricular tachyarrhythmias. This resulted in his PhD thesis entitled 'Multimodal image integration to better explain human ventricular tachyarrhythmias'.

Job’s thesis was the result of a collaboration between different departments, universities, and nationalities, and resulted in a double doctorate degree from Maastricht University and Hasselt University. During his PhD trajectory, Job was supervised by Prof. Paul Volders (Cardiology, Maastricht University), Prof. Ralf Peeters (Advanced Computing Sciences, Maastricht University), Prof. Paul Dendale (Cardiology, Hasselt University), and Dr Matthijs Cluitmans (Cardiology, Maastricht University). After obtaining his PhD, Job continued as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Volders’ lab at the Department of Cardiology.

As a clinical technologist, Job aims to improve understanding of the mechanisms of ventricular tachyarrhythmias and to optimize personalized treatment through the integration of electrical and structural imaging modalities. He is particularly interested in the role of noninvasive imaging modalities such as electrocardiographic imaging (ECGI) and the role of repolarization in ventricular tachyarrhythmias. This includes investigating the role of noninvasive imaging in defining target areas for stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR). Job was recently awarded two Young Talent Fellowships, from the CVON PREDICT2 and the CVON VIGILANCE consortia.
